Have To Defend The Hemingway Novel

HHawks said he's gonna make a great movie from Hemingway's worst book, but THAHN is the only Hemingway book that he wrote as a serial and that can be considered Pulp Fiction, so it's very cool to read it.

But... this movie has close to nothing to do with the book other than the character names and the main character and his rummy sidekick. The way Hemingway writes about Bogart's character and Eddy is worth the read. In the movie it's really quick but in the book you really live on their boat.

I just finished the book. I can appreciate the pulp fiction aspect, but it was certainly not "A Farewell to Arms."

But, yeah, I was surprised at how little it resembled the film. At what point is it just flat wrong to say a movie is "based" on a book? Whatever that point is, this one crossed way over it.
