Anne Treadwell's Line Makes No Sense

When we're first introduced to Anne Treadwell, Mark says something like, "You fainted when you identified the body."

Fair enough. But a few lines later, Anne is commenting on Laura's maid Bessie. She states, "I'll never forget her scream when she first saw Laura lying there."

Huh??? Bessie says later she was the one who discovered the body. Apparently, Bessie showed up for work Saturday morning and made the discovery. Anne wouldn't have been there! She would've been called in LATER to make the identification.

Is this lazy screenwriting or am I missing something?

Hi Gary.

I raised this question a long time ago, and no one had a satisfying answer.

Sloppy writing. Like you, I assumed Bessie found the body on Saturday morning.

The only way for Anne to hear Bessie's scream is if they BOTH went to the morgue to identify the body.

Either that, or Anne had exceptional hearing and heard Bessie from her own (Anne's) Apartment!!! 🙄 😏

When Bessie walks into the kitchen while Laura and Mark are preparing breakfast, Bessie says, "But I found you...lying on the floor."

No, Anne's line doesn't make sense (although it would have, had ANNE shot her niece and was hiding in the apartment when Bessie screamed).
