Just saw this and for those that pan it, why?

For some time, I've been watching quite a few older movies and especially from the mystery/film noir era.

Now, why this is not exactly a film noir flick or a horror flick, it was much better than I thought it was going to be when viewed from a relative point of view (in contrast to other movies of this era).

My question is, for those who call this horrible or give it a low rating, why? Did you watch it from a juxtaposition view of old vs current? Or how?
