Czech version of the event

Can anybody tell me what is the Czech movie from the 60-ties about the same event - assassination of Heydrich (with Czech resistance fighting in church and there is lot of water as I recall) ?

Hey,

the most famous Czech movie about the assassination is this:

I'm no historian but from what I know it's pretty accurate.

Good luck finding it though, I wasn't successful.

"He say you Blade Runner." "Tell him I´m eating."

Atentát (1965) is an excellent film I had seen some 50 years ago. On the contrary, I did not like Lang's one I saw last night. It is premature, impossible to know the historical accuracies one year after the event and the whole style ... too American (sorry, no offense meant). He could have put at least the signboards in the Gestapo HD in German, for God's sake! The film is completely unconvincing.

Atentát is still available on youtube as a complete film ( B&W Czech/German with good English subtitles) and I concur with the above poster that it's well worth watching. Despite my initial curiosity about Brecht's work as a screenwriter, I've found Hangmen Also Die to be a thoroughly unsatisfying film on two different viewings.
I tried watching Operation Daybreak (also on youtube in segmented form- poor quality and essentially unwatchable)but found it overly schmaltzy...worse than Hangmen). I am curious to see how Anthropoid works out in the historical accuracy department.

The film uses different languages at times on signs. Sometimes English, sometimes German, sometimes Czech. The deciding factor seems to be how important it is that the audience understand what the sign is saying. When that's critical, the sign tends to be in English.

Try "Operation: Daybreak," 1976. Stars Timothy Bottoms and ends with the water you are referring to flooding a basement. Fine movie and more accurate than this one.

The basement to which you refer is the crypt in the church of St Cyril and St Methodius. I visited this church on a visit to Prague and found it to be very eerie, particularly the bullet holes in the wall and the hole in the wall where the parachutists tried to dig their way into the sewer using bayonets.
