shareGood Golly! There is no flipping way that you can compare the two men as dancers. Personally, I would say that Cagney is very much in the mode of Gene Kelly, where Astaire is far more balletic and like "Mischa" in style.
I would personally rank Kelly as the best, with Cagney close behind.
It's really a matter of personal preference. I adore Gene Kelly's dancing, with Cagney's dancing a close second. While I recognize that Fred Astaire was a superb, elegant dancer, he is not my first choice. I like the more athletic, energetic style of dancing that Kelly and Cagney do.
