Olivia

She's the best thing in this turgid potboiler, and never looked as lovely on screen as she does here. As much as I love Bette Davis, this has to be the worst of her WB dramas. At least BEYOND THE FOREST is fun to watch as bad as it is.

I loved this film! No one can play bad like Bette Davis.

It's a great movie and Olivia is ONE of the things that make it great. Two scenes:

- When Olivia, walking down the stairs, says to Dad 'You like me in blue. You like me in green. You like me in yellow. You just like me." And Dad says, 'I guess that's it.' What an intro to her character!

- When Olivia is speaking with Hattie McDaniel and says, looking at her grandmother's portrait, 'But I'm not as pretty as her.' And Hattie says, 'No.' and walks out. Hattie's so funny!

The scenes are one after the other in the film and they are perfect.
