Do I need to read the book first?

I have tried to read it, I'm halfway through but it's taken me years, I've put off seeing the movie until I finish the book but it's so boring. Does it differ too much? I'd like it to be different, it would make me feel better about not finishing the book.

No. The movie may motivate you to read the book or vice versa. Or read Of Mice and Men and see if that pulls you in to being a fan? The book and movie have enough differences to keep you entertained. Just enjoy it. And if you can't maybe you just aren't a Steinbeck fan? He's my favorite but don't ask me to read Shakespeare! Unless someone who loves it is tutoring me the whole time, explaining everything, I'm sound asleep or daydreaming. We all bring different tastes, understandings, etc, to the table. Hope the movie pulls you in tho!

Took you years to get through that amazing book? Get it together dude

I recommend reading the book first because the book offers subtle details about scenes in the movie, which you won’t catch unless you read the book first. It’s a consequence of a book’s ability to offer more insight
