why does Dorothy miss Scarecrow most?

just curious. It seemed to me a bit unjust, isn't it? Why does Dorothy say she will miss him most?

I also find that moment awkward to watch. Lion and Tin Man were right there, and they couldn't help it that they weren't the first ones that she met.

I think it was supposed to be a "stage whisper." That is, the character speaks so that the audience can hear -- but those others present are supposed to be out of hearing range:

Suspension of disbelief.

You have to look at this logically:

1. If Scarecrow weren't made of hay, the Witch wouldn't have lit him on fire.

2. If the Witch didn't light Scarecrow on fire, Dorothy wouldn't have flung the bucket of water on him.

3. If Dorothy didn't fling the bucket of water, none of it would've inadvertently splashed onto the Witch.

4. If water hadn't splashed on the Witch, she never would have melted.

5. If the Witch hadn't melted, Dorothy would not have obtained the broomstick.

6. If Dorothy had not obtained the broomstick, she would have nothing to offer the Wizard in order to get back home.

In summary, at that point in the story, Scarecrow helped Dorothy achieve her goal. Therefore, she would miss him the most.

It's all cause and effect.

It must be hell inside your head. 
