Great movie but illogical ending

I thoroughly enjoy watching 'Dodge City' each time Encore's Western Channel plays it but the lack of logic during the end puzzles me.

Surrett and his henchmen escape the burning train on horseback and then flee in the same direction the train is moving making it easier for our heroes to pick them off. You'd think they would've turned around...especially after the Victor Jory character is killed

Yes that has puzzled me because it made no sense. But Hollywood may have been short on common sense in those days. Regardless the bad guys were picked off and the good guys prevailed.

Came here with the same question...why not just stop and let the train go on? Why gallop at full speed parallel to the train?

Still love this film though....never get tired of it. The scene where the boy Flynn calls Shakespeare is killed still gets me every time.

I just posted the same question on the Greenbriar blog. After posting it, I thought to come here and see what IMDB had to say.

Saw this movie for the first time last night and thought that was the one flaw of the film.
