I dare anyone to watch this, and not tear up!
What a touching movie, and it's still just as relevant, the eternal story of kind, elderly parents, with their fates in the hands of selfish, self-centered adult brats.

shareThe first time I saw this on TCM I cried at the ending. After that when I saw it on the schedule I didn't tune in. I watched it today and I was sad because this is NOW! Adult children are moving back home because the economy is so bad they can't afford high rents or a mortgage. Baby Boomers have depleted retirement funds because of the crash or investment fraud and can't afford to live alone. Or they can't afford a senior residential living because of high costs and low or no insurance coverage. Young adults can't get a high enough paying job to start saving for their future never mind their golden years! This film with its sad message shows how much the world has changed for us all but not for the better as we had hoped.

i'm not a guy who easily cries over a movie, certainly not over a melodramatic movie like this
so many movies, so little time
