Worth watching for the terrific ending!

A rather dated & poorly transferred film is redeemed by the truly exciting climax. It needs restoration badly, though

Even larks and katydids are supposed, by some, to dream

I think my copy was edited badly at the end. At one moment Rathbone and Harding are arguing and she says that there is poison/medicine in the coffee and than the next moment Rathbone falls over dead. Very abrupt.

SPOILERS!

Yes, a very abrupt ending .. very much as if something was missing.

What did you think?

2nd spoiler.. do not go beyond this point.. ending utterly revealed..

I don't think there was poison in the coffee.. just quick thinking on her behalf. We had been tipped of that he had a dodgy heart, and mustn't get excited.. so to save herself, she wound him up.. and his own heart killed him. That way Carol is NOT a murderer.. or the doctor.

She did blurt it out that she pretended to give him poison to make his heart race and give him a heart attack, worked a treat

The woman is so hysterical at the end that it is difficult to hear what she was saying. So that's a good confirmation of what actually did happen.
