Costumes by Adrian or Dolly Tree?

Does someone knows for sure?

The opening titles of the film credit Dolly Tree, but IMDb says costumes by Adrian (uncredited).

IMHO the costumes for Jean Harlow look far too business like for Adrian designs. Even the gowns do not seem to show the usual Adrian splendor, although I love Jean's evening gown which she wears during the party at V.S.'s home.

Thanks to anyone who can be of help here.

The costumes or gowns for Wife vs Secretary were designed by Dolly Tree.
I am intrigued by the line 'the usual Adrian splendour' .... Yes, Adrian's work was splendid but in my opinion Dolly Tree's work was splendid too... their styles were in fact very similar. Which is why they worked so well together at MGM for nearly 10 years.

These costumes were Dolly Tree and, tragically, I believe Jean was buried in a gown designed by Tree.

Yes, it was a tragedy that Jean Harlow died so young which is what I presume you mean.... the negligee (not gown) that was designed by Dolly Tree was a beautiful creation which Harlow allegedly adored from Saratoga (I have a photo of the sketch) which might explain why she was laid to rest wearing it.

Would you ever consider posting the photo of the sketch? I would love to see it. The negligee was really beautiful, I think it was a nice choice to lay Jean to rest in.

Oops I think I just found it on your website! Fantastic, wonderful articles on Dolly Tree. Thank you so much!

I never heard of Dolly prior to the movie. I read a little bit about her on Wiki.
