I don't know if Depp is still considering a remake of "The Thin Man" by I just can't see him holding of Nick's side of the dialog. As for the Loy character, I just don't see an actress of her beauty and "wicked jaws" in today's stable of actors.
Godfrey would fit Depp's talents much better. Plus, surely the Thin Man's drinking would be greatly reduced to fit our times. That would never work.
God help us all if they ever attempt to re-make this Classic. I will be dead then, I hope.
Johnny Depp can play anyone and I believe him. He is the Best.
But there is only one Godfrey, for me!
As good an actor as Johnny Depp is, it would be horrible for anybody to sullen the iconic roles of the legendary William Powell. The cringe worthy "Mordecai" characterization would probably be Depp's go to playing "Godfrey" or "Nick Charles".
