I didn't think they did, but then a character suddenly says that Frankenstein made the monster out of dead bodies.

But there's a scene earlier where I think Pretorious threatens to tell everybody that Frankenstein is responsible for the monster unless he agrees to work with him.

Yes, because Mary Shelley wrote the book in 1818 so everyone was well aware at the time of this movie that Henry Frankenstein created the monster
