Elsa Lanchester as Mary Shelly was a babe

That is all.

She sure was and she was even better as the Bride where she is electrifyingly beautiful, I couldn't take my eyes off her.

Yeah, she was. I once knew (and was slightly infatuated with) a young woman whose facial features were reminiscent of a young Elsa Lanchester's, except she was about eight inches taller than Lanchester. She DID often sport bandages on her arms, as she was somewhat into "self-cutting," or whatever that's called. She was also mixed up somehow with some kind of so-called "vampire cult." Supposedly she had been one of the original, founding, charter members, but had been expelled by the others for being "too extreme." Lucky for her, as some of them went on to become a lot more famous than they wanted to be, and wound up in prison, even on Death Row. It was all pretty messed-up.

Elsa Lanchester was gorgeous and sexy as both Mary Shelley and The Bride.

She was pretty cute as Shelley. Very adorable when she giggles at Lord Byron's comment.

...Doh!

she was indeed hot.

Yes, She's gorgeous and charismatic in BoF, might have become a major star but for her personal eccentricities. Also, she aged fast, and the years were not kind to her. She was a wonderful actress, too. On talk shows she was a delight, using salty language with wit and style.

In my mind, Valerie Hobson as Elizabeth Frankenstein is THE babe of this film.

Such a beauty indeed, just take a look.

I completely agree.

So pretty, quirky, charming, witty, fashionable, captivating, ravishing, buxomy...

What a cruel fate that I shall never get to meet a woman such as this.

I thought Mary seemed like someone else.

You're totally right.

She would have made for a decent Elsa/Bride in a biography/making of or other "Bride" adaptation.

Maybe not anymore.

She could maybe pass as just the Bride now.

I watched Bride of Frankenstein (1935) only a couple nights ago and I have to agree... Elsa Lanchester as Mary Shelley was a KNOCKOUT! I was so drawn by her acting as the authoress of Frankenstein, she put a smile on my face during that opening scene. The only thing that freaked me out was Elsa as Mary in that movie reminded me of a girl from my senior year of high school who looked so much looked like her. Ironically, the girl from my class happened to be from England, imagine that.

I wish they could have made a whole film starring Elsa Lanchester as Mary Shelley. Missed opportunity. 

I'll need to find other films of hers when I have the chance.
