This film stinks

Hello to everyone that was disappointed by this film!

I wanted to start a discussion that would give people a forum to vent their frustrations with Vampyr. I know all the fan-boys out there will come here and attack me, but I think this thread is necessary for the following reasons:
1) We need to find out why such a mediocre film generates such intense loyalty and admiration.
2) We need to discuss the possible reasons why this film looks so amateurish compared with other horror films of the era. (And I'm not talking about over-exposed film to create an effect.)
3) We need to discuss how great this film could've been with a coherent script and a professional film crew.

If you were expecting some grandiose horror extravaganza because of all the wonderful comments out there, and were shocked and let down because this movie is mediocre at best, this is your chance to rant and rave!

I heard absolutely zero about this film before seeing it for the first time, so I didn't have any grand preconceptions about it going into the movie or any large disappointments with it while coming out. Granted, the characters aren't very interesting, the plot in muddled, and in general its rather boring. However, IMO anyway, the bizarre dream sequence near the end makes it worth watching.

Standing there, on a road that leads to anywhere ...

Gee,the OP posted almost a year ago. Where are all the dozens of people agreeing with him?

They're all in the "anyone else fall asleep" thread. No need to have multiple threads saying almost the same thing.

I hate to say this, but Vampyr is my go-to cure for insomnia. I’ve never been able to stay awake all the way through it. Maybe it’s way overrated, maybe it’s just not my cup of tea. I’ll give it a try again someday. I do have hope for it, since my appreciation of Nosferatu changed 180 degrees. Maybe the next time I watch Vampyr will be the time it clicks.
