Magnificent film.

Great film, Paul MUNI GIVES ONE OF the greatest performances ever, the cinematography is flawless and it struck me how it has no score, like many films of the day, and it doesn't need it to hold any interest. The 1982 version is vastly derivative from this one, and this one is way better.

I haven't read the source material but a lot of the visual references like the world is yours thing is the same, I don't like that, plus Paul Muni is a true actor, he acts, he's not a neurotic showcasing a side of his neurosis like Al Pacino is.
