At its original release, Battleship Potemkin was 95 minutes long, it has then since gone trough many recuts and alternate versions, it was at a point thought lost, because the building with the raw film was bombed, it was then rediscovered, at exists today in various versions, none of them as long as the orginal film.

Because of it's 'revolutionary'content it has been cut and censored when shown in western Europe and the USA. This already happened in 1926 in Germany, and ever since several versions of the film have existed.
