What's with all the Steve Spagnuolo hype?

He's lauded as being this defensive genius who bamboozled the 49ers and led the Chiefs to a SB victory, yet the 49ers allowed the same number of points (19) in regulation. Then in OT, a defensive lapse by one 49er lineman led to Brock Purdy having to rush his throw into the end zone, leading to them settling for a field goal. Following that, of course, Mahomes used his magic and led the Chiefs to the winning TD.

The difference between the two teams was razor-thin, and it would have been a different story save for a 49er's muffed punt and the aforementioned defensive lapse.
