I'd say all the above. This is akin to someone walking into a KKK rally and instead of leaving in disgust, slightly agreeing with what is being said. When someone then reports on it, you then backtrack and claim you wanted to "educate" yourself by attending the rally and insist you are not a white supremacist. Hopefully, no one will fall for his pathetic excuses.
