It's so weird to hear his IRISH ACCENT after not hearing it in VIKINGS and in LOVECRAFT COUNTRY !!!
He has lived in Ireland for a few years as an adult, but he's actually originally from Scotland and his family moved to Australia when he was 12, so at this point in his life his real accent is probably more Australian.

Now that you mention it, he does sound more Scot than Irish. And since he moved Down Under when he was 12, that would probably also mean his accent was already formed prior to the time.
What's amazing is how you can't detect his accent at all in VIKINGS or in LOVE COUNTRY. So he must have also worked very hard to disguise it.
Also hope they find a way to bring him back again for S2 of LOVE COUNTRY (even though he and the other character who used his body is suppose to be dead now).
