Gary's portrayal in "Hannibal" as a born-again Southern blue blood reminded me a lot of Mitch and Gary also played a Republican who opposed President Lebowski.

I think he'd be perfect as Mitch in an unauthorized biopic. Lucy Liu could portray Mitch's wife
