Why she left? Does anyone ACTUALLY know?

I looked briefly. I didn't see anything but speculation. Some were speculating that it was to have a family. Others think that she wasn't offered enough money. It didn't look like it was money because they said they offered her a lot and it didn't matter. Someone suggested she wanted time off.

A lot of performing artists like to expand themselves and that was my first thought. Some only try to get a different sort of acting role. A lot of actors sing and dance or singers act. Maybe she wanted to see family in South America. Maybe she wanted to explore hobbies like painting, sculpting, hiking or boating... Who knows? Unless she said somewhere.

Even though Ziva was my favorite, I love Abby, Gibbs, Mr. Palmer and Dr. Duck. I will watch to see them... (I didn't forget Tony. I'm just pretty ambivalent towards him). If she does other stuff, I will definitely check that out, too.

Cote, this fan wishes you luck with whatever you do.

What's disconcerting is that it was so abrupt. That she had to get out so quickly. They've inserted "outs" for her character in the past few years, and I'm sure they would have done it this season if they've had enough warning. It'd have been reasonable to give another 6 months of proper work (it seems she would have gotten paid handsomely if she had agreed, even for some of the season) to resolve story lines that were dangling (or planned at the start of the new season). Her leaving regardless hurts her in future negotiations (ie, other projects might consider her flaky), so you have to wonder why she did it anyway.

She just might want out of show biz. She might be just burned out and wanted out immediately. It seems she had time to reconsider and still went ahead, so it wasn't a rash decision. This only fuels the speculation: there seems to have been a time sensitive issue, maybe personal or health related (either hers or someone in her family), maybe privacy sensitive.

It is just that after years of investing time on her character, it is difficult to see her go so quickly w/o an explanation, and it even raises concern for her wellbeing. In the end, it is her prerogative, and her right to keep it private. We can only wish her well.
