Both were very clutch and dependable scorers in the playoffs. Both players were part of 5 championship teams and played on dynasties with fellow legends. Both of their dominant careers were ended by injuries rather than fizzling out (albeit Kobe played far longer). And both were all time great candidates overshadowed by legends like Orr and Jordan.
