Why was Sydney recast in Season 2 of "Hope & Faith"

Nicole Paggi played her in Season 1 while Megan Fox played her for the remainder of the show's run. Brie Larson actually played Sydney in the unaired pilot. Nicole actually looked more plausible that she could be Faith Ford's daughter than Megan Fox. Was it simply because the producers figured that Nicole was too old to be believable as a teenager? I think she was about 27 in the first season.
