Best Pulp song and best album (Two separate questions).

For best song I'd pick "Love Love" from "It".

Best album would have to be "His 'n' Hers".

What are our choices?

I don't know if I can pick a best song. Disco 2000 holds a special place in my heart, and Common People is among the best floor-packing dance songs of all time, but my favorite changes depending upon my mood. I'm especially fond of the acoustic versions of Razzmatazz and Dogs Are Everywhere that were on the b-side of (I think) one of the Common People CDs.

Different Class is a masterpiece and for me it's hands down their best album. I love His 'N' Hers, and it creates a mood like few other albums can, but Different Class takes music to a whole other level for me.

Bottom line-- you can't go wrong with any of Cocker's work. I'd rate his first solo album up there with any of Pulp's, and his live shows? Among the best I've ever seen.

There's tonnes of good music associated with Pulp FB, that's why I tried to make it a hard question with one song and one album.

Different Class is an iconic album for 1995 and is a floor filler with many of its songs as you say. "Pencil Skirt" hold a special place in my heart although not likely to fill the place with dancers, maybe some runny mascara drunken shambling at the end of the night for the losers of the piece but hey, we each geet our kicks in different ways.

Well, if I had to pick one song, I'd consult the list I made when I was required to pick one song. A friend recently challenged me to rank my 400 favorite songs of all time, with the rule that I could only pick one song by any one artist. It was immensely difficult to do when it came to Pulp, and to Jarvis Cocker, who I included as a solo artist (maybe I cheated?), but after massive deliberation I included Disco 2000 and From Auschwitz to Ipswich in my list. I briefly had Death Comes to Town on the list, in large part because I simply haven't heard it as many times as most of Pulp's other songs, but after deep thought had to cave and choose Disco 2000.

That's the spiggit!

I ask tough questions because it's lovely to be plump with good stuff but if it had to all be cut away and only one was left - which would it be. I find it makes appreciation of the collections much more intimate if you love something but it's not the top choice.

Bold choice with From Auschwitz to Ipswich FB, good call though!
