Scorsese, Spielberg & Tarantino are others.
Any time they make a flick it's almost guaranteed to be represented at the Academy Awards, a few exceptions obviously.
One of the reasons the Academy Awards are a bit of a joke.

The Academy Awards are most certainly a joke, no argument there. That being said, to say that Scorsese, Spielberg, Tarantino and Toro are only nominated because they’re ‘friends of the academy’ seems a bit absurd. The aforementioned collective are arguably the best film makers in the business and if their works are nominated it is because they consistently make great films. Now I’ll concede that their movies may not be for everyone but at the very least they’re made with a level of competence which exceeds the majority of film makers in the business.
Just my opinion of course, and I stopped watching/caring/giving a shit about the Academy Awards many many moons ago.
