SEBERG RELEASE DATE DECEMBER 13TH, 2019

Finally we have a release date for Seberg

"Kristen Stewart wholly engrossed herself into becoming Jean Seberg in this searing, raw portrayal about transformation. This performance is the culmination of years of hard work, that is one of the best of her career, which will astonish audiences everywhere. Coming out of Venice and Toronto, she has received rave reviews and unanimous acclaim for this exceptional performance."

So excited!! Can't wait for everything and we have 3 months with 3 Kristen movies

December 13th, eh?
Well it looks like I called that one, because earlier this week I noted on the 'Seberg at Venice and other film fests' thread that the nominations for the Golden Globe Awards will be announced on Monday, December 9th. Thus I felt that Seberg would not open until after the Golden Globe noms were announced.

I am very happy that we finally have this news. Hopefully, it will be a wide rather than a limited release. Unfortunately, that article did not specify what type of a release it would be. And also hopefully, Kristen will indeed receive a Golden Globe nomination for her performance as Jean Seberg. I am quite certain, as far as the Golden Globes are concerned, that a film does not have to open before the nominations are announced. It only has to open during the calendar year. I believe that one of the reasons why Seberg has been playing at all these European film festivals is make sure that the Hollywood Foreign Press, who runs the Golden Globes, are aware of this film and Kristen's performance in it.

And speaking of nominations, the December 13th opening will also make Kristen eligible for consideration for nominations for an Academy Award, an Independent Spirit Award and a Screen Actor's Guild Award.

Meanwhile, I am going to repost the addy for that Deadline article, since the one that Mody posted did not seem to work, for me, at least.

Yes, she's been real busy but we haven't yet seen her latest movies. Glad to see them coming out. These are all good films, interesting and should have good story lines to them.

Here's Variety's take on the release ...
https://variety.com/2019/film/news/kristen-stewart-seberg-release-date-1203351183/

Amazon Studios has given Kristen Stewart's independent political thriller Seberg an awards-season release date of Dec 13.

"Awards-season release date" definitely says it all. I also like how they labeled the film an "independent political thriller." Kind of makes me feel that that line was targeted to the Independent Spirit Awards.

Oh yeah, one other thing I found interesting in both the Deadline and Variety articles is that they mentioned that Seberg received a seven minute standing ovation following the film's premiere at the Venice Film Festival. Yet most of the reviews I have read state that the film is flawed. So, were the attendees applauding the film or Kristen's performance in it?

Considering that Kristen was there, I get the feeling that they mostly applauding her performance in it.

I guess we'll know more when December 13th rolls around.

So let's see ... we've got Charlie's Angels opening on November 15th; then we wait four weeks for Seberg to open on December 13th; then we once again wait another four weeks for Underwater to open on January 10th.
Looks like I'll be going to my local infinityplex multiple times in the coming months.

By the way, a week or so ago I read that Happiest Season is currently scheduled to open around Thanksgiving of next year. So here we've got a movie that won't start filming until January or February, and yet is scheduled to open the same year. What a contrast compared to Underwater, which we've had to wait years to see after principle photography had ended. Such is life when there are no special effects to be added, not to mention not having an entire motion picture company getting purchased by another.

Both variety snd dealine take was positive you dont want to read indiewire.... the film has been described as being more commercial so probably general audience liked it and the ovation is probably for Kristen, her performance have been.widely praised.

Yeah 3 movies in 3 months so hyped. Ikr? HS and UW had way too different cases and yeah HS will be released on Nov 20 and will film in January. She'll have a busy filming early next year as she will finish HS wnd the untitled movie before summer where she finally plans to filmm The Chronology of water a very busy year.

Too bad the film was flawed. Kristen does such a great job in these strong character roles and gets great critical praise, but it seems too often that the film or story writing or some other aspect don't match up to the potential.

But getting the standing ovation is good and if mainly for Kristen then that says a lot. As for awards, hopefully she could get some consideration for a role so well done, as after all that's what acting awards are for, right?
