Nothing race-driven about this story at all. Perp stages a fake crime for attention and sympathy, and goes down in a ball of flames. Race and sexuality totally indifferent, would've played out the same. Him playing the reverse-race and gay cards out of his Uno deck did help get the story more publicity.
