Either Simmons plays him or no one at all. There has never been better casting for a comic book movie than him.

Just perfect casting

I still love him as JJ Jameson. Such a brilliant choice.

Simmons as JJ may be the best cast comic book character ever. It's like he walked right off the pages. Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark is a close second.

His casting was perfect. Unfortunately he's moved over to DC as Commissioner Gordon for the long haul, so his chances of returning to the role are nil.
