He wrote some excellent children's books but boy, did he look creepy and was said to be a huge womanizer and was "a frequent presence at Hugh Hefner's Playboy Mansion and Playboy Clubs."

He led quite the bohemian lifestyle yes, but was quite the renaissance man & one of America's greatest humorists. Often imitated, but never duplicated.
