"Not My King"

What do the protesters mean by this placard? Do they mean they'd accept someone else as their 'king'?

Personally, I'd prefer that they said "NO KING!" rather than "Not My King." The latter implies that they'd be fine with some sort of monarch who was more to their liking; in other words, a sort of 'meritocratic' or preferential elitism, which, as much as I'm in principle against a hereditary monarchy, might actually be worse than the present system (there's NOTHING worse than a powerful tyrant who *genuinely believes* they've somehow 'earned' their elite status; it's ANATHEMA to humility, which, ironically, makes it MORE TOXIC, and FAR less honest, than a system in which people are simply born with a 'divine right', and thus recognise, no matter how subconsciously, that they're extremely LUCKY and FORTUNATE to be where they are).

So, like I say, "Not My King" is a BULLSHIT slogan. NO KING, or indeed queen, is a far better slogan which makes it CLEAR than any form of supreme ruler, whether they're born into the position, or 'earned it' (and let's be 100% FUCKING HONEST for once; NO ONE earns anything of any value; it's always given to them, or the consequence of *MANY* people's work and help rather than the efforts of a single supposedly 'exceptional' *sigh* 🙄🤦‍♂️ individual), is problematic.

There's a picture of one of them holding up a sign saying the only King is Burger King.

I don't think they mean they'll take another king. It's just a catchy phrase.

A placard that says "off with his head" would probably get them arrested.

'A placard that says "off with his head" would probably get them arrested.'

I think a lot of them were arrested.

'There's a picture of one of them holding up a sign saying the only King is Burger King.'

That's funny, although I don't approve of their lack of commitment to a progressive vegan diet. 😠

They strike me as the sort of spoiled crybabies we have seen more and more of in recent years, who break the social contract by refusing to accept the results of elections, or other long-established processes and traditions if the result is one they don't like.

Basically, they are spoiled brats who have never been told "no" in their lives.

Yep. Those dummies fail to realize that King UpChuck is their superior in every way and they better pledge allegiance to him and bow when they are in his presence or boot to the head!
