Breakthrough Man Of Portliness Role In Fast X


Jason Momoa plays the larger than life comical villain outstandingly well in Fast X.

But not only that, he plays it in quite celebratory, unashamed fashion as a person of portliness. I think as far as female roles go, the drive to be more inclusive in terms of portliness, has been quite successful for a while now.

However Momoa may represent a first for a male character. Typically any weighty chap we see in film will be some comedic side kick, usually either literally holding or, if not, making comments about needing some food. But Moana is not playing to that stereotype here - he's simply a man of portliness enjoying life to the full.

Refreshing to see and all kudos to Vin Diesel for ensuring this kind of inclusiveness is a central part of his hugely successful franchise...
