I hope they don't save it for the Berliniale. If the film is done by early March, then there should be no problem releasing it in the fall, both in Europe and North America.
I get there is substantial German involvement but if the reception by test audiences is positive, then they should just release it for the end of the year.
Although, if you think about it, they could release it in North America in late Fall and have the European premiere at the Berliniale. I think that's been done before but I'm not sure.
