The images of the aftermath of the massacre are so iconic and haunting.

I was only five when this all went down, but I remember seeing those iconic images of the dead bodies being splashed across news programs, newspaper covers and magazine headlines for weeks. (Mercifully, all the victims were lying face down, so all you basically saw is what looked like people fast asleep). To this day, the images have never left me and it's still so unfathomable that this happened. I can't imagine how sad and terrifying it must have been, how many people were filled with regret in those last minutes (as in, had had their doubts days or weeks before, second guessed their decision to escape and were then thinking, "Oh, shit.")

I wasn´t alive at the time but have seen various documentaries. While the images were haunting the final tape recording of Jones forcing everyone into drinking the Kool-aid is much more unsettling to me considering all the screaming in the background. The parents were watching their kids suffocating to death. Horrifying stuff.

Yeah, I heard that recording. It's like the 9/11 Kevin Cosgrove tape. Once you hear it, you can't unhear it. I remember JJ going something like, "Mother, mother, please..." or something as a woman was begging for her child's life. There's also some creepy music from a previous recording, I believe, that bleeds through, so you hear it warbling at some point.
