A rather strange musical career

I saw Bruce Hornsby's name pop up a couple of days ago and it brought back a lot of fond memories of his music. My favorite song of his is "The Valley Road"...I just love his piano playing on that (and it has a very nice guitar solo as well). He actually made a "bluegrass version" of this song that appears on the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's great recording, "Will The Circle Be Unbroken, Vol. II." While I like the bluegrass version, I do prefer the original.

It was always interesting to me how his music was very prevalent in the late 80s/early 90s ("Every Little Kiss" was a staple on the radio back then). However, all of a sudden, that was it for him. You just never heard anything from him anymore. It was like he dropped off the face of the earth. I believe he did some touring with The Grateful Dead (which I think was an odd mix for him) for a bit. But I stopped hearing his music on the radio for a long time.

I believe he still performs today. He has aged quite a bit (He was supposedly a very good basketball player growing up...I believe he's around 6'3" height-wise, just a shade taller than me). But I love his early music and have always been somewhat sad that I stopped hearing his music so suddenly in the early 90s.
