Well, this is awkward. Now what's to become of his The Suicide Squad movie now? We'll he no longer direct that as well or will he be getting both franchises?

He is going to do both, Suicide Squad 2 first and then Guardians 3.

Probably never. James Gunn's offensive comments were all several years ago. Roseanne's comment was recent. That seems to be the main difference. I don't think either should have been fired though.
