Marvin Gaye, he of the velvet voice and incendiary passion, was the best Soul Singer, yet I see no posts for him here. I infer 1 or more folks I have on Ignore have created 1 or more topic(s), which are invisible to me, so I am creating one.

There are no more Soul Singers. Motown is dead. Hip-hop is a replacement as shabby as Spam is for a Kobe T-bone. It’s a true shame that young people have no opportunity, in pop culture, to be exposed to true beauty. Marvin Gaye’s strong, proud voice singing “What’s Goin’ On?” is every bit as relevant to our world today as it was 60 years ago—and a whole lot more soulful than what’s in the marketplace today.
