I would just be very upset if somebody I'd known for years and was close to, didn't turn up to a special event because they let their faith get in the way/can't handle rude humour.

It's deeper than that but whatever her reason, I'm sure they weren't surprised.

I don't know if they're still close or not, but I assume not just because he's known to do a bit of crass humour. It just seems funny to me because there are far more awful atrocities going on in the world that's reported everyday, then to be shocked about a simple Roast with jokes about apendages.

Yes there are "far more awful atrocities going on in the world" but so what?? She chose to exercise her right not to go, which I for one applaud her for.

Anyway, I am sorry, but it did seem like to me that some of your opinions came across as somewhat arrogant against people who have a rude sense of humour. I do admit that some jokes in these Roasts can go a bit far, but they are only ever meant in jest.

That was not my intent. I just voiced my own opinion that I don't think these Roasts are funny in the least.

It's only a guess, but I think that's why you had that response from the person who said "goofball" because your previous statement seemed as if you were looking down on these types of people.

It's not that I'm looking down on them, it's that (IMHO) they are looking down on her for her decision to not go.

Although it is unfair to say that your faith stops you from having a sense of humour, because the rude kind isn't the only kind.

Just because someone chooses to not subject themselves to that kind of humor, that doesn't mean they don't have a sense of humor, which is what the other poster said, if I remember correctly. I've already shared my opinion about what I think about the roasts so I wont belabor that but, I have a great a sense of humor. My faith doesn't prevent me from laughing or having a sense of humor. Whenever I need a laugh, which is A LOT lately, I just go to youtube and look at videos of my two favorite comedians Brian Regan and Jim Gaffigan. So you see, just because someone has a strong faith, it doesn't mean they don't have a sense of humor.

My Tae Kwon Do instructor tells me I'm just two moves away from becoming quite threatening!
