Bob saget's roast

Why wasn't she there? anyone know

reply

She's a fundamentalist Christian, as was mentioned in passing by one of the comics last night. Most fundamentalist Christians would disapprove of the type of humor typical at a roast.

In other words, her religion prevents her from having a sense of humor.

Just because she chose to not be a part of that environment, it doesn't mean that she doesn't have a "sense of humor". She just doesn't want to subject herself to that filth, nor would I, which is why I don't watch those roasts.

As a comic, I should tell you, it's a GREAT HONOR to be roasted, because these people who are throwing insults at you and others are doing it because they love you and you mean something to them.

It's unfortunate that a goofball religion can prevent someone from attending something meant to honor someone who was basically your family for a decade. Dave Coulier is as clean as a bar of soap and he still showed up.

To me, that's kind of disrespectful. I guess as a comic I look at it a different way though.

I'm sure that as a "comic", you do see it differently and that's ok, as it is ok that she chose to not be a part of it for whatever reason. Personally, I don't find anything funny about those roasts and, I truly feel sorry for any comic that must resort to that kind of material to be funny. The comics I enjoy, don't do that because they obviously(IMHO) put a lot more thought into their material as they're writing their jokes. They don't rely on shock material as many comics do, which I think is lazy because it doesn't require a whole lot of effort on their part.

To me, this is "disrespectful".

Yes, and he's about as funny as a root canal in my opinion, as is Bob Saget.

I'm gonna be frank here: Just because it's not your taste there's no need to sound so stuck up. IMO.

So it's rude humour, big whoop. If you don't like it then leave other people alone who do. X(

How am I even remotely not leaving people alone who like that kind of humour?
I'm just voicing my opinion in defense of Candice's decision to not go to the Roast, as the other guy voiced his opinion and called Candice's faith "goofball" for not going to the Roast. Why don't you admonish him?

I find it interesting that you've chosen to correct me.

I would just be very upset if somebody I'd known for years and was close to, didn't turn up to a special event because they let their faith get in the way/can't handle rude humour. I don't know if they're still close or not, but I assume not just because he's known to do a bit of crass humour. It just seems funny to me because there are far more awful atrocities going on in the world that's reported everyday, then to be shocked about a simple Roast with jokes about apendages.

Anyway, I am sorry, but it did seem like to me that some of your opinions came across as somewhat arrogant against people who have a rude sense of humour. I do admit that some jokes in these Roasts can go a bit far, but they are only ever meant in jest.

It's only a guess, but I think that's why you had that response from the person who said "goofball" because your previous statement seemed as if you were looking down on these types of people. Although it is unfair to say that your faith stops you from having a sense of humour, because the rude kind isn't the only kind.
