The Heat era

I adore that era in her career but think it was full of missed oppotunities. It needed a way better promo and Toni should have released more singles. The title track would be a great one. She even started making a music video for it. What happened? Why did she cancel it? Now another one - Maybe would be a fantastic final single but its music video wasn't released too. I'm still sad

Because she bashed men with the song "Wasn't Man Enough" and there went her target market.

Imagine a song called "wasn't woman enough for me?" sung by a man?

reply

What nonsense. Her target demographic were never men. You literally just made that up. Are you guys so desperate to post anything, you'll just make stuff up to get a conversation going?

Oh--and imagine a song called "Wasn't Woman Enough" by a man? Why imagine it when, during the time TB was at her peak, there were dozens of rap songs a year calling black women "hos" and "bitches" and talking about pimping them out?

reply

Rap is a different genre.

You're right. It is a different genre.

But let's go back to your FALSE CLAIM that Toni Braxton's target demographic was men. They were not. They were women.

Not only that, you have no idea about Toni Braxton's music. You don't even know what that song, "Wasn't Woman Enough" is about. It's about a woman mocking another woman for being jealous of her husband. She's saying in that song, "Why would I want your husband? I already had him before you did, and I dumped him because he wasn't man enough for me."

What did you think the song was about? You had no idea. Like all the MC regulars here, you just jump into random threads to post nonsense.

reply

If I remember correctly, Toni Braxton's career tanked because she fell into debt due to her outrageous spending.
