How is his Oscar chances for Birdman?

Edward Norton is among my favorite actors so I would love for him to get a nomination this year. Currently there is quite a lot of Oscar buzz for not just the movie and Michael Keaton but for his performance (which actually surprised me a bit since his role doesn't look all that meaty in the trailer). What do you consider his chances are of a nomination and perhaps even a win for Birdman?

I just saw it yesterday. He was very good, and on top of his game. Those confrontation scenes with Keaton's character makes me wish they gave an award for rapport. They were intense and funny at the same time.

I'm also intrigued with his character. Mike is a complete jack-mule to Riggan, but he defends the guy's integrity and talent to the critic quite eloquently. He also forces Sam to accept that yes, her Dad screwed up and she deserved better, but he wasn't the worst person in the world either, and she did not have the right to hate him. Yet, he never treats Riggan with any respect when dealing with him face to face.

That said, I would be a little surprised if he get a nomination because Mike disappears about 3/4 of the way through the film.

I would like to see him receive recognition, but I still believe he should have won for American History X and 25th Hour. I wish he could get other roles like that.

I agree with you.

His chances are zero, JK Simmons is a lock for the win.
