I believe you’re thinking of Leonardo DiCaprio. He refused to audition for the reason you listed above, and James Cameron called him on his BS and said “You don’t audition, then get the fuck out….,” paraphrasing a little but you get the idea. And knowing how JC is he probably said it just like that.
Leo was taken aback, and of course auditioned and the rest is history.

I don’t know exactly what Cameron said to Leo, you can look it up but he was curt with him and called him out, gave him the choice to read or leave immediately, which is awesome, I mean the gall of a young actor, even an up and coming actor to try and pull that shit with a director like Cameron.
