TCM Remembers legendary star of stage and screen, Angela Lansbury. Winner of six Tonys and nominated for three Academy Awards, Lansbury was a titan of her craft with incredible performances in such films as 'Gaslight' (1944), 'The Picture of Dorian Gray' (1945), and 'The Manchurian Candidate' (1962).

She was born in London in 1925 and moved to New York in 1940.

In Gaslight (1943) she speaks in Cockney accent then a proper maid's accent. Her first 3 films are set in London but filmed in LA, possibly for British audience.

How long did it take to switch to an American accent? She could still do English accent for Bedknobs and Broomsticks (1971).
