Jolie is a one-note actress, Pablo Larrain is a shit director and absolutely terrible with actors, and her one note is "Beautiful woman with a dark side". Sure, Callas had a dark side, but that wasn't the most important thing about her! The music she made was, music that took all the darkness inside her and used it to give depth to the rapturous glory of opera! That kind of music is something that fights against all the darkness in the world, and Larrain's previous films shows he loves to wallow in misery.
