Did the Hobbit Trilogy kill his Career?

I for one didn't mind the Trilogy but did it kill his career no project has been announced since 2014

If those great films have killed his career then Hollywood needs to pack up and go home [actually the reason the Hobbit films were so good is probably because they weren't made in Hollywood]

the Hobbit films weren't perfect but they were overwhelmingly brilliant.

I'm hoping we get a new director project from Peter Jackson.

Peter Jackson essentially does whatever he feels like at this point after making huge amounts from LOTR and Hobbit films.

He had stated he wanted to direct more New Zealand oriented films again, having done a lot of big blockbusters.

Jackson was also supposed to direct the second Tintin movie which at this point I'm really skeptical that this is even happening anymore.

Jackson has been co-writing the script for the upcoming Mortal Engines film which will shoot at Jackson's studio and is being directed by Christian Rivers who has worked on a number of Jackson's films most recently as a 2nd Second Unit director when Andy Serkis was unavailable. I believe they called River's group the Splinter Unit and Serkis' group was the 2nd Unit, but Serkis wasn't around for all the extensive reshoots when they decided to do three films as he had other commitments.

And of course the Jackson/Spielberg mystery project is looming behind-the-scenes as well.

His career isn't dead he's just working on a lot of projects that in early works right now, none of these are even in pre-production yet to my knowledge, possibly Mortal Engines which is casting now.

The guy takes a well deserved break for a while and some people make assumptions about why they haven't heard anything from him in a while.
Do you want to do your job 24/7? Do you need a break from it once in awhile? I know I liked having time off from my job to visit with family and friends, go out to dinner, catch a movie, etc.
Why can't he?

If Lord of the rings didn’t I see no reason why the Hobbit would. Also the Hobbit isn’t a trilogy it’s just one film chopped into three pieces. I can take any film I want and do the same thing. Heck Pulp Fiction and Braveheart are more of a trilogy than the Hobbit is
