Melancholia


I personally think she deserves more recognition for Melancholia. Both she and Kirsten were great, but I feel like Charlotte was something else. That eerie cry when she's panicking and fruitlessly trying to start that engine gave me chills.

(spoilers for those who haven't seen the film)

Very astute observation, longshot, that Charlotte had to pull off the "end of the world." She really did. Her sister internalized the pain. The little boy didn't realize what was happening. The husband committed suicide to escape. It was she alone who had to portray the terror of the impending apocalypse, and she was captivating.

...rolling downhill like a snowball headed for hell...
