AH! I forgot about Blue Jasmine!! I consider that to be the best performance by any actor or actress ever.
I'm stuck in the Mid-West so I'm not able to see her in any plays, but I have heard she is fantastic. I actually read an article about her performance in A Streetcar Named Desire where Meryl Streep said, "That performance was as naked, as raw and extraordinary and astonishing and surprising and scary as anything I've ever seen ... She took the layers of a person and just peeled them away. I thought I'd seen that play, I thought I knew all the lines by heart, because I've seen it so many times, but I'd never seen the play until I saw that performance."
That is why Cate Blanchett is my favorite actress - she is just mesmerizing.
