A brilliant start, then he ruined it

Wil Wheaton had a really brilliant and terrific start in the acting world when he was in Stand By Me, he did a really good job as Gordie, then, he ruins his image and his career by taking on the wimpy, annoying, whiny role as Wesley Crusher in STG, how could he do that! Wil, you had such a great beginning and then you ruined it with such a terrible role. You could've done something better.

I suggest he grew tired of the profession and left it for other callings.

Acting is not a "profession", it is an occupation but not a profession. All professions are occupations but only a very few occupations are professions. A profession requires a professional degree such as law or medicine or engineering. Words have meanings.
