Proof Prinze was wrong

When Freddie Prinze made those nasty comments about Kiefer, loads of people were so ready to agree that Kiefer must be awful to work with but if that were truly the case, why did so many actors he worked with in the past want to work with him on 24, but more recently on Forsaken. Demi Moore, (A Few Good Men) Michael Wincott The Three Musqueteers and 24 Live Another Day). Brian Cox ( That Championship Season) Greg Ellis AKA Jonny Rees (24. Touch, Marked, The Confession). Jon Cassar has worked with him for years. None of these actors (or director) would have chosen to work with him again if he were as awful as Prinze implied.

How is that proof that he got along with SOME people? I mean both sides could be correct. Keifer and his issues were very much a problem for the series pretty early on. Causing major delays in filming. He did clearly have a drinking problem. Did it show through in the work? Well I can't see it.. and I thought he turned in amazing performances year after year on the show. And I was happy that they brought the character back for, even a limited one, another round in Live Another Day.

But I will say I don't particularly like the way Prinze brought it up. It does seem rather class-less. But that was his perspective on it. And it wasn't just his, as there were other guest stars that had issues.

And honestly.. as much as I may have loved Louis Lombardi and hated to see him go in season 5.. did he EVER share more than 3 lines with Jack? That is NOT a slam in that all of his scenes took inside CTU whereas Jack was always in the field. As I recall the majority of scenes with Edgar was either with Driscoll in season 4 or opposite Chloe.

I'm not sure where you got your info re major delays in filming. In fact, when Kiefer had his last DUI that resulted in jail, he scheduled it so that he wouldn't miss any filming of 24. (it was during the strike and before it started up again. The only other time filming was delayed was when he had to have emergency surgery. He has said numerous times that he has never been late for work and Jon Cassar and others have said that he's the most professional actor they've ever worked with. He came 2 hrs early and left last most of the time. I have heard that he's very exacting and demanding of excellence and would change dialogue if he felt it would fit his character better. Some actors have said that that could be challenging because they would then have to relearn their lines at a moments notice. Perhaps Freddie just wasn't very good at adapting and found that to be unprofessional. They only other person I'm aware of who complained about Kiefer was the lady who played the mom in the terrorist family. She thought Kiefer got her fired because he was threatened by her great acting. That sounds really bogus to me. Well, we'll never know but Kiefer definitely took the high road in responding and he's the one with a steady career and it's "Freddie who?" I'm really looking forward to the new show, Designated Survivor.

why did he need emergency surgery?

He had a ruptured cyst near his kidney while filming 24. Not sure what that has to do with this topic.....

To prove he couldn't control why he had to miss time from filming '24'

I am a bit late to the discussion because I only recently noticed this. I have to admit, season 8 is one of my favourites but I didnĀ“t like PrinzeĀ“s character in it much - also, I was afraid he would shoot his own leg because nobody told him how to hold a gun :) But anyway, I have been KieferĀ“s fan since 90s (teenage crush :) ) and I have to say, as many talented people, he has issues. However, from what I read even from stunt guys or just members of the crew on various sets (not just 24), he takes his job very seriously and is never, ever late. He introduces himself to everybody, is often first on the set, leaves last and when there are scenes with phonecalls, he even comes to read his lines behind the camera on his day off.
He drinks, yes, he "likes to party" but he never goes to work drunk. I think I heard he was late once because they were filming somewhere else and he couldnĀ“t find it.

As for Prinze not getting along with him...in every work, you have some people you just donĀ“t like for some reason. You just donĀ“t, without any good reason. It happens. So I guess thatĀ“s what happened here.

I remember reading an interview with Alexander Sidding (who I loved on Star Trek) and he said that he loved working with Kiefer because he was hard working and a very nice guy BUT that he had this habit to rewrite scripts at night and was able to learn his new lines very quickly. But, of course, the other actors didnĀ“t know so they had a little time to learn. It also seems that Kiefer likes to improvise and letĀ“s face it, by season 8, 24 was this well oiled machine where he could have done a lots of things because he was also a producer. So maybe Prinze had problems to keep up and was a bit annoyed by it (which is understandable).
I just think it is very rude and unprofessional to bring it up like five years after they moved on to other things. It is like talking about a problem with food in a restaurant you visited years ago, telling the manager now when he can do notning about it.
I have nothing personal against Prinze, I donĀ“t think I have ever seen anything with him other than the one season of "24", so I have no impression of him but this seemed really weird and ridiculous (unless he was joking and it got lost in translation somewhere)
